We brought her home on April 28th, 2011.
She passed into memory on October 13th, 2024.
She was alert and happy and surrounded by family. We held her close. She’s been loved all her life and was loved to the end.
It was hard to let her go, but there wasn’t anything else to do for her.
A long, healthy life (13 and a half years!), a brief illness… doesn’t get much better than that for anybody.
She was: Regal. Commanding. Protective. Driven. Aggressive. Playful. Stunning. A model German Shepherd, a perfect specimen.
I reflect upon the habits she’s ingrained in me — flinching at the mailman, at every delivery vehicle in fact; hurridly slamming the door before she can run outside. The reflexes necessary to manage a dog who would bite a perceived intruder til they bled out.
She’s my childhood pet, my beautiful baby sister.
She’s been there for as long as I can remember. The places special to her are special to me.
I miss running through the meadow with her
I’ll miss her forever
